Compressor Check resistance of compressor windings: Ohmmeter should indicate resistance Attach ohmmeter between winding C and S: between windings. Attach ohmmeter between winding C and R: Ohmmeter should indicate resistance between windings. Check compressor for grounds: Attach one ohmmeter lead to compressor Ohmmeter should indicate infinity on each case. Attach second ohmmeter lead to C, terminal. then S, then R terminals on compressor:

Compressor Continuity overload Ensure temperature of overload is at room temp. Check continuity across leads: Overload should have continuity.

Compressor Resistance (highest scale), with power removed. Indicator swings to zero and slowly returns Capacitor Discharge capacitor and disconnect all attached wires. toward infinity. Attach Analog ohmmeter leads between C terminal and H terminal on capacitor: Indicator swings to zero and slowly returns Reverse leads on C and H terminals: toward infinity.

Check capacitor for ground. Infinity on ohmmeter indicates capacitor Attach one ohmmeter lead to capacitor not grounded. case. Attach second ohmmeter lead to C, then H terminals on capacitor:

Fan motor Check power to board Check voltage from fuse to ground. 115VAC should be present.

Check Board fuse Continuity should be present.

Check for resistance of fan motor windings: Ohmmeter should indicate resistance Attach one ohmmeter lead to common fan between windings. motor lead. (Grey wire on CN4 Molex plug closest to the fan motor leads) Attach second lead to remaining fan motor leads on CN4 Molex plug, one lead at a time:

Electronic control Check for power Voltage (115VAC) should be present at the fuse and the ground screw. Check Fuse Continuity should be present at the fuse CN4 Molex plug to receiver board ends. “EO” in the display Make sure plug is properly seated CN3 Molex plug neutral / fan motor Check to see if CN5 Molex plug thermistor is properly seated. If properly seated replace thermistor.

Check to insure plug is properly seated. Refer to fan motor section for proper checks.
