Product Exchange (PEX) Scrap Process: Guidelines

All Product Exchange Providers are required to follow the process for any product with the disposition of “Mandatory Scrap”or “Scrap”. NEVER REMOVE the Model / Serial plate from the appliance! Any product that has a disposition of “Return to Manufacturer” (RTM) or Return to Whirlpool (RTW) must not be altered in any manner. These products must be returned in the exact condition, without damage, protected from further damage and with all parts and accessories.

All product designated as Mandatory Scrap or “Scrap” must be physically scrapped per the process prior to transfer to recycler.

Product Exchange (PEXed) Units are the property of Whirlpool Corporation and ownership may not be conveyed, sold, gifted or kept for use.

PEX Provider is expressly forbidden to convey title for exchanged products on behalf of Whirlpool Corporation until this process has been completed, PEX units may only be conveyed as “Scrap”, or “Scrap metal” to licensed recyclers once the following process has been performed.

Parts from Product Exchanged (PEXed) units may not be sold or used and must be scrapped with the product. Whirlpool may require pictures of the completed process. If required, these pictures will be attached to the claim in

ServiceBench. This documentation should clearly show the Model/Serial tag as well as the destroyed product.
